10 ways to win over your picky eaters

Getting your little ones to eat healthy can sometimes be a challenge. Picky eaters always find a clever excuse not to eat their food. Need some crafty ideas to make them eat everything on their plate? Here are 10 great tips to get your kids excited about food.

  • Keep it small
When introducing new foods to your child, serve it to them in smaller portions. It will make it less intimidating for them.

  • Shape it up
Cutting the foods they’re reluctant to eat in fun shapes or letters is a great way to make their eating experience a lot more enjoyable.

  • Looks DO matter
Try putting their food in fun, colourful containers. Customize the bags you put the food in by drawing their favourite characters or adding little love notes!

  • Cut down on snacks
Try to cut down on snacks between meals; your kids will be hungrier and that will make them more likely to want to try out new things.

  • The “3 bites” rule
Establish a rule with them where they have to take three small bites of the meal if they don’t want to eat it.

  • Shine a light on the food’s benefits
Don’t tell them Catelli Smart Veggie™ pasta, made with cauliflower and carrots, contains half a serving of vegetables in every 85g portion. Tell them that eating them will make them strong like their favourite superhero!

  • Purée to save the day
What’s the best way to make sure they won’t recognize the veggies they don’t want to eat? Purée! Deceptively nutritious.

  • Getting saucy
Sauce is a great way to add different flavours to your food. For example, pair a nice Parmesan and Romano tomato sauce along with your vegetables and your Catelli Smart Veggie™. They’ll never notice all the nutrients they’re devouring. Go ahead, green is the new good!

  • The cool factor
Have somebody they look up to (older sibling, friends etc.) come over for dinner. The foods they eat will look a lot more appealing to your little ones.

  • The cooking team
Catelli® is all about getting the family involved with cooking. If you give your kids a simple task while you’re preparing supper, they will feel proud of their food and will be more inclined to eat it!
